Dunelm – Dumbo and Winnie the Pooh Comforters – recall

The following notice has been issued by the retailer:

Dunelm has identified a potential safety issue where the sewn in care label can be pulled off which is then a choking hazard for small children.

We have therefore issued a recall notice on the:

  • Dumbo Comforter White
    Barcode: 5050390072731
  • Winnie the Pooh Comforter
    Barcode: 5050390072892

These products were sold in the UK through Dunelm stores and www.dunelm.com from September 2015.

No other products are affected by this recall notice. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Please return this product to your nearest Dunelm store for a full refund or for more information please email customerservices@dunelm.com or call 0333 234 0870.

Q.
Why are the Dumbo / Winnie Comforter being recalled?
This product passed all of the relevant safety, legal and quality standards as well as a pre-shipment inspection carried out by an independent company. This is in line with Dunelm’s quality assurance programme.
A. As part of our due diligence we re-tested the stock, which raised concerns with the product. As soon as we realised there was a potential issue with the product we took action to ensure the safety of our customers.

Q. What is the problem with the Dumbo / Winnie Comforter?
A. If the sewn in care label is pulled, the label can start to fray and pull out of the comforter. When the care label is loose, it can become a choking hazard for small children

Q. What do I do if I own a Dumbo / Winnie Comforter?
A. Return the product to your nearest Dunelm store for a full refund.

Q. Can I return the Dumbo / Winnie Comforter to a different store from the one I purchased it from?
A. Yes, you can return the product to any Dunelm store for a full refund.

Q. What if I don’t have the receipt?
A. A full refund will be given in store.

Q. My child has become attached to his / her Dumbo / Winnie Comforter, is it possible to get a replacement?
A. Unfortunately, at this time, we can only offer a full refund however if you wish to remove the full care label and date pip (small label underneath) this will make the product safe.

Q. The care label on my Dumbo / Winnie Comforter is still attached / secure, does this mean it is safe?
A. The product has a potential safety issue. There is a possibility that the care label could come detached posing a choking hazard.

Q. I purchased my Dumbo / Winnie Comforter bear over a year ago, do I still need to return this?
A. Yes, all Dumbo / Winnie Comforters with the numbers advised on the posters need to be returned

Q. How has this happened?

Q. I don’t know if my Dumbo / Winnie Comforter has the number advised on the poster?
A. The numbers on the poster are on the swing tag attached to the product when purchased. If this has been removed, please check the sewn in care label. The numbers to be returned are as follows:
